Lifeguards are always on duty—and the colorful lifeguard stations have even become a popular backdrop for photos. The best beaches in the U.S. deliver ocean waves and postcard-worthy views—and swimsuit-ready temps aren’t a requirement to visit them. These beaches can easily be enjoyed outside of peak tourist season. After all, there’s something about the solitude of a walk along the empty shoreline that’s incredibly peaceful.

I grabbed an espresso martini and our check and we headed out to the lawn. The well-manicured, sumptuous lawn was adorned with lawn chairs and high-top tables. You can breathe in the salty ocean air and watch the surfers as you sip on the cocktails.

Discover the iconic Beach House Restaurant, nestled on Kauai’s picturesque south shore, where breathtaking ocean views and vibrant sunsets create a truly unforgettable dining experience. Not all beaches are on the ocean, and Platte River Point Beach, part of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, is proof of that. Anyone familiar with popular Michigan travel destinations has likely heard of this scenic spot in the Wolverine State. In the summertime, it hums with daytrippers who go to kayak, stand-up paddleboard, tube and swim in the shallow water, roast marshmallows around the campfire and pose for photos in front of the dunes. Florida is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the country—but none more sizzling than Miami Beach.
Kapalua Bay Beach
Located in one of Orange County’s most renowned coastal communities, Aliso Beach is famous for skimboarding—it even hosts The Vic, the prestigious annual world championship. Of course, if you’ve never tried gliding across the water’s surface—and don’t have any interest in trying it out—there’s still plenty to see and do at this renowned seaside spot. Watch the pros do what they do best or just sit on the shore and soak up the year-round sunshine.
Ohana is Hawaiian for family
Along with The Beach House's famous sunset views, it's equally easy to get swept away by Chef Marshall Blanchard's creative twists on island favorites. Take a slice of paradise, mix well with a generous helping of island hospitality and a bounty of Hawaiian flavors, and you'll discover what nourishes the soul and brings you back for seconds. The Beach House Restaurant on Kauai is well-known to both residents and visitors for its spectacular oceanfront setting along the island's sunny south shore. As a consistent winner of Honolulu Magazine's Hale Aina Gold Award for Best Kauai Restaurant, The Beach House has earned a reputation on Kauai that goes well beyond its breathtaking setting. Duke Kahanamoku was a native Hawaiian, a six-time Olympic swimming and water polo medalist, the father of modern day surfing, and the Hawaiian ambassador to visitors and dignitaries.

My passion for seeing the world has taken me to 46 countries across six continents—and counting. Whether I’m exploring somewhere new or returning to a familiar favorite, I’m always vetting the best boutique hotels, wine bars and juice shops. When I'm not writing, you can find me doing yoga, hanging with my son and planning a trip to one of the destinations on my ever-growing bucket list, including many beach destinations. In addition to Forbes Vetted, my work has appeared on Travel + Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler, InsideHook, The Zoe Report, Hotels Above Par, TripAdvisor, PureWow, ELLE Decor and more. The sun went down on the water, and we toasted to a tasty meal, a beautiful view, and a beautiful life.
A trip to Cape Cod is a time-honored summer right of passage for New Englanders. Families flock to popular Paine's Creek Beach, a halcyon inlet hangout for building sandcastles (just remember to bring shovels and buckets) and swimming. The small tidal pools here are particularly well suited for tots, while older children can try skimboarding on the flats. There’s even a natural lazy river for tubing, and the little ones (and parents, too) are sure to enjoy the ice cream truck that comes by in the summer to dole out sweet treats. The Beach House team has nurtured a winning formula that melds gracious Hawaiian service and innovative Pacific Rim Cuisine in its unbeatable location.
All of the main courses look delicious but in the end, we both decided on the filet mignon. It was topped with blue cheese and bacon butter and served with mashed potatoes and rainbow chard. The server was very attentive and ensured that our experience at the Beach House Restaurant was just as memorable as the food. The Beach House is one of the nicer places to eat on Kauai for fine dining, but still doesn’t have a strict dress code.
Hawaii is spoiled with incredible beaches, but you can’t beat beautiful Kapalua Bay Beach for kayaking, boogie boarding and stand-up paddle boarding. Besides watersports, this tranquil cove on the northwestern tip of the island presents opportunities for snorkeling alongside sea turtles and colorful parrot fish in the warm, clear water. In terms of amenities, restrooms and showers by the parking lot up the convenience factor. Today there are six Duke’s Restaurants each on unique, spectacular waterfront sites. We invite our guests to experience a welcoming blend of Pacific inspired flavors with menus that are playful, vibrant and locally sourced whenever possible.
Victorian Homes and hotels line Beach Ave. in Cape May with lifesaving rescue boat on the beach. We ordered the Szechwan stir-fry green beans with mac nuts as an appetizer. The sauce was delicious, and we viewed the rest of the menu as we enjoyed them.
Enjoy special prices on selections from our extensive, curated wine list every week for Waina Wednesday. The steaks were cooked to perfection, and the flavors of every dish came together impeccably. We enjoyed our meals and soaked up the view, saving room for dessert.
